MUSEUM Africa is currently showcasing “Thunga uThimule, a Reflective Exhibition” by Nhlanhla Benjamin (Ben) Nsusha, featuring over 60 pieces of art. The exhibition’s concept draws from Zulu traditions, with “Thunga” representing the act of passing traditional beer in a circle, and “uThimule” inviting responses after posing ideas.
Opening on Heritage Day, Nsusha’s exhibition encourages visitors to engage with his artwork and share their responses. He incorporates stitching into his pieces to create a sense of permanence, using unique framing techniques that merge seamlessly with his creations.
Nsusha, a seasoned artist with a 40-year career, attributes his talent to his family, particularly his mother, who taught him weaving techniques. Inspired by nature and his surroundings, Nsusha’s work reflects the environment, people, and sounds of his homeland.
The exhibition, located at Museum Africa, serves as a tribute to South African artistry and heritage. It opened on September 24 and will be on display until December 24.
